The purpose of the Club is to develop and support lifelong skaters,
emphasize fun, fitness and sportsmanship and to carry out the general
policies and objectives of United States Figure Skating.

Skating Club of Phoenix is proud of Dyllan McIntee!
Dyllan represented the Skating Club of Phoenix in fine form this
past week in Colorado. Dyllan won the Juvenile FS in the initial and
final rounds. She landed 5 out of the 6 Double Axels planned in
competition!! It is finally safe to say she "owns" that jump! If you
think winning the freeskate is all Dyllan is bringing home from the
Broadmoor Open, think again, she won Juvenile Dramatic, Jumps and
Spins events. For the final touch, Dyllan placed second in
Intermediate ladies short program event.
As stated by her Head Coach, Bridget Dunn-Kaus "Dyllan really
overcome and worked very hard at this competition, she represented
Skating Club of Phoenix well" Dyllan is also coached by Marie
Stroukoff, Diane Miller and Christina Noakes.
We are extremely proud of your accomplishments!

Flagstaff FSC Test Session:
July 18th 6AM - 1:30 PM
The Flagstaff Figure Skating Club will hold a test
session on July 18, 2009 6 AM - 1:30 PM (length depends on number of
applications received). Judges will be coming in from Albuquerque,
Las Vegas, and San Diego. A room block is reserved at the Residence
Inn by Marriott - 3440 N. Country Club Dr., Flagstaff, AZ 86004.
(928) 526-5555. Reserve by July 3, 2009 and mention code "FFS" to
receive the group discount. TEST APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED

Polar Ice Peoria Christmas Show Dec 18-20 - Save the Date!
The Christmas Show for Polar Ice Peoria
will be held December 18-20, 2009. Dates on the number of shows,
times, etc has not been set yet. The show theme is "The Grinch" and
Courtney Moebs will be
the Director. Jana Kading will
be the Assistant Director. Lea Welton and Becky Harp have
volunteered to be Costume Coordinators and Terri Perillo and a few
other moms have agreed to coordinate picture pre-orders to save time
on picture night. There will be another boys/hockey number. All
skaters from all rinks/clubs are welcome. Be watching for fliers
announcing when to sign up at Polar Ice Guest Services.

Junior Intern
Class Offering at Polar Ice Peoria
Jana Kading will be
teaching a Junior Intern class at Peoria Polar Ice on Monday June
15, from 9:30-11:30am. This will be an off-ice class. Sign up
through Peoria Guest Services in person or by phone with credit
card. Class fee is $40.00. This class will teach the 12-year old or
older (including adults) skater how to assist with group
Learn-to-Skate classes. Students will also learn how to create a
basic resume. Skater must have passed the Pre-Pre MIF test, Adult
Pre-Bronze MIF, or complete Preliminary Ice Dance test. Skaters from
all rinks/clubs are welcome. Each participant will receive inserts
for a notebook, so please bring a 3-ring notebook. Upon completion
of the class, Jana will give names and phone numbers to Bridget
Dunn-Kaus, Juliana Kenny, and Uyen Nguyen, the Polar Ice Skating
Directors, and skaters may be able to assist with classes as the
schedule demands. If you will be participating in the class, please

email directly so there are enough notebook inserts for
everyone.

Membership
Registration - New Members & Renewing Members
It is that time of year! Current
members and new members are encourage to join the Skating Club of
Phoenix before July 1, 2009 to avoid a lapse in your USFS club
membership and monthly subscription to Skating magazine.
Current club membership will expire on June 30, 2009. The board has
had to increase our membership fees to keep up with rising costs for
the 2009-2010 Fiscal Year. However, these fees are comparable to
other skating clubs in the valley.

Arizona State
PSA Workshop: Sunday, July 19th 3 PM - 7 PM
Peoria Polar Ice and SC of Phoenix are happy to be hosting a
6-credit PSA State Workshop on Sunday, July 19, from 3-7pm.
Written Test application deadline: 6/19. Workshop application
deadline: 7/6.
We will cover the new Changes to MIF that were approved at
Governing Council. The presenter for MIF will be Hal Marron, who
was on the Task Force
which created the new MIF. Marie Stroukoff (Master MIF rated and Gold medalist
in Figures) will be presenting “How to teach loops, twizzles,
counter, and rockers” for use in IJS step sequences. Jana Kading
(Master Group rated) will be presenting “How to prepare for Oral
Ratings” and serving as written test proctor.
Don’t forget that you need to complete a PSA “Educational
Program” in the year prior to taking an oral exam.
This workshop will fill that requirement, especially if you want
to take an oral rating at Scottsdale PACE in August. FYI, if you
have already completed your 4-course USFS CER requirement (to be
a “registered coach in good standing”), you have already
fulfilled the educational program requirement.
